"My altercation with a family member led me to seek help with my communication skills. Yvette was recommended to me and so I took advantage of the first free session to see what would happen and if she could help me. "I had been thinking of counselling for some time, but just wasn’t sure where to start. When I looked into each service, I was drawn to the fact that the sessions would be online which meant anonymity was possible in a small town. It was also helpful to see the offer of a free initial session which meant no financial outlay to test the waters. In that session I felt valued, respected and it just felt right. "I had the privilege of shadowing one of Yvette's counselling sessions. Witnessing such a fantastic therapeutic alliance between Yvette and her client was humbling as a counsellor doing her first practicum. Yvette encompasses a compassionate, judgement-free, safe, and encouraging environment for her clients. Her ability to help her clients understand the emotions behind their concerns was exceptional to watch. Although Yvette primarily works in the emotionally focused modality, her ability to integrate other therapies into her counselling, allows her to be able to sit where her clients are, while still gently helping them delve deeper. Her ability to engage with her clients, allows her to create a safe and trusting environment for her clients. This is something I would personally like to emulate."
